General Information

Use for the qualitative detection of total antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19).  This assay detects antibodies against the nucleocapsid that develop in response to natural infection with SARS-CoV-2.  This assay will not detect antibodies developed in response to COVID-19 vaccination.

Specimen Requirements


Specimen Collection / Processing Instructions

SST - Separate serum or plasma from cells within 45 minutes of collection. If a red-top tube, green-top or purple top tube is used, transfer separated serum or plasma to a plastic transport tube

Additional Processing Details

Preferred: Centrifuge samples within 45 minutes of collection.
Alternate: If centrifuging is not possible, uncentrifuged samples are acceptable up to 72 hours after collection.
Caution: Add-on testing may not be possible on samples that are received uncentrifuged.
