Test Description
Sjogren's Syndrome
Synonym(s)
Anti-SSB/La, Anti-SSA/Ro
Test ID
SJO
General Information
The presence of both SS-A/Ro and SS-B/La antibodies are highly specific serological markers for the diagnosis and disease management of patients with Sjögren’s syndrome or lupus patients with Sjögren's overlap syndrome. SS-A/Ro antibodies can be a marker for SLE and Sjögren’s syndrome. SS-B/La antibodies are highly specific clinical markers for Sjögren’s syndrome, but a small proportion of patients can remain SS-B/La negative. Assay results should be used in conjunction with clinical findings and other serological tests.
